About this service

Manned guarding puts trained, uniformed security officers on your site. A visible officer deters opportunistic crime, controls who comes and goes, and can respond to an incident while it is happening, not after.

Every assignment starts with your site and its risks. We agree the duties, hours and reporting with you before an officer starts, and write them into clear assignment instructions.

Where it is used

  • Office buildings and business parks
  • Industrial units and distribution sites
  • Retail premises and shopping areas
  • Residential developments and managed blocks
  • Healthcare, education and public-facing buildings

What it gives you

  • A visible deterrent at entrances and vulnerable areas
  • Someone on site to check visitors, contractors and deliveries
  • Patrols and checks recorded against agreed instructions
  • Incidents reported to you promptly, in writing

How to arrange it

Tell us about the site, the hours you need covering and what is worrying you. We will discuss the assignment with you, visit the site where needed, and send a written proposal with the duties and costs set out.

Manned guarding: questions

General information only. Specific arrangements are confirmed in writing for each site.

Do your officers hold SIA licences?

Contracted security guarding is a licensable activity under the Private Security Industry Act 2001, so officers carrying out these duties must hold the appropriate front-line SIA licence. You can check any licence on the SIA's public register of licence holders.

Can I have cover for nights and weekends only?

Yes, cover can be arranged around the hours your site is most exposed. Tell us the pattern you need when you request a quote.

What will the officer actually do on site?

Duties are agreed with you and written into assignment instructions. Typical duties include access control, patrols, locking and unlocking, alarm checks and incident reporting.
